Meditation for the Soul

Meditation for the Soul

I do my routine meditation
To keep my spirit in good condition.
I make myself available to beautiful things,
Listening to unpleasant sound is not my option,
But the pleasing sound of wind whispering,
in whipping willow trees.
Listening to it is most exhilarating.
The chirping Blue Jays lurking on hummingbird feeder.
So beautiful to watch them perch on flowers and branches.
They keep coming back for more for the nectar.
When my meditation is over
I will pour more sweet liquid in feeder.
This time, it's going to be the hummingbirds' turn.
I'm sure, I came to a fair conclusion,
Which is good for my soul inclusion.

Mama's Kitchen

Mama's Kitchen

She had everything you would ever want
at Mama's kitchen.
She was perfect in everything.
Knives, chopping board, pots and pans
are all in one neat place.
Spic-and-span is what we described
Mama's little kitchen.
Floor polished with non-slipped wax.
You could almost eat on the floor
She cooked very nutritious meals for her family.
Her kitchen was her pride and joy
because that's where she loved to be
most of her time doing work for her family.
She loved her kitchen like the way she loved her family.
Mama is now gone, but her kitchen
remains neat and clean.
Thank heavens, my sisters keep it
the way Mama wanted it to be.

The Smell of Freshly Cut Grass

The Smell of Freshly Cut Grass

The smell of the freshly cut grass
in spring is like a scent from heaven.
It lifted up my soul,
It boost my morale.
To think of new growth and new life
coming out in spring.
The birds, bees, butterflies and flowers
The trees with leaves of red and green
Are all God's gifts from heaven.
Enjoy we must these natures beauty.
Grateful we are to Him for the opportunity
To use our faculties, to smell, see and hear
All God's natures wonder.
The freshly cut grass I smell,
A sign of spring,
A sign of new life.

Situation

Situation

We are in a state of quandary
In an enormous situation we are facing everyday
The countries in chaos are affecting the world today.
The ambush and killings that happened day by day.
The continued attack on soldiers
Also the so-called peacekeepers,
Are devastating to diplomats and world leaders elsewhere.
For our sake, we need peace to live our lives
Otherwise, we won't survive,
In this chaotic world that strives.
For security reasons all nationalities
are being thoroughly sifted up
For fear of another attack.

Shame On You

Shame On You

You are as changeable as I am
But that doesn't make us compatible in mind
Nobody really wins the game,
If you and I continue to fend.
I admit, I am sometimes like you, pal
I don't want to take it that way
But it seems to me it's kind of mutual
Seemingly, life with you is impossible to foresee.
We have some in common, I should say
But it's not the kind of thing we should share
Through the years you've been so pushy.
One way or another, I will challenge you, dear
You were taunting me to change the things I do around
I certainly do not agree with the way you sound
I don't have to take it from you.
No matter what. Shame on you!.

Shadow of the Past

Shadow of the Past

Wherever you go wherever you are.
Whether you like it or not
it's always there for you
like a private sentinel
guiding and protecting you.
You'll never walk alone
cause your shadow follows you.
The shadow of your past remains furled.
Let it unfurl your life with open-mind.
Life is sweeter when you let go of the sour grapes
Let bygones be bygones.
Don't let it haunt you forever.
With the absence of the odious past
Your happiness in life will be uncovered.
As you sail and navigate the vessel of life.

Potluck

At potluck party, I brought veggies of my choice
I fixed green lettuce and slices of tomatoes
Tossed with vinaigrette salad dressing
Everyone chipped in for anything they can bring
It was such a nice gathering
Every body was friendly and jolly
And have outgoing personality
Not a bit of crabbiness in the party
Food was abundant and delicious for the soul
Dessert was served with finesse
It was served in an English dish
It was very delicious, and has lemony taste
Whoever made it, I was impressed
I helped myself for more serving
Do you mind?
Little did I know I had three servings
I really enjoy potluck party
It's my way of congregating
With people of different walks of life.

Wishes

Wishes

If I had wishes
I'd wish the world is flat so I could walk on all over the top.
And I could reach the point of no return.
I'd wish I had acres of land full of kitties and puppies
running around, chasing and playing with their buddies.
I'd wish I could adopt all the poor animals
that are homeless and hopeless
to the point that they have to be put to sleep,
If no one comes around to adopt these cuties.
I don't want them to die senselessly.
I wish all my wishes would come to fruition
So I don't rattle my brain with all kinds of imaginations.

When Life was Simple

When Life was Simple

Gone are the days when life was simple
Back in my native country
When I was a girl of seven
I was as happy as the birdies whistling up on trees
I romped around with kids my age,
Looking for stranded young birds
Separated from their mothers
Some of them fell from trees
We nursed them back to health
Put them back to their nests.
We never had TV and stereo
We only had the transistor radio
Powered by 9 Lives batteries
Because we did not have the electricity.
But I experienced an unusual happiness
That I could never find these days
But of course, that was then
Back then, when I was seven,
When life was simple.

You Color My World

You Color My World

You came to me one day, and said, ""I Love You.""
It's been awhile since I heard those three magical words.
As if you pulled off the sword from my wounded heart.
I felt relieve after all those months we struggled to survive.
Our lives became entangled,
In a web of tests and trials.
Now, you made me feel wanted and desirable.
You held me tight closed to you, and kissed me tenderly.
I could feel your heart beats and whispers of love amazingly.
I feel the color of my world is back,
And dark clouds of doubts slowly disappear.
I will always be with you wherever you go,
Whenever you need me, for the rest of my life.
For all I know, you color my world, once again.

Downcast

Downcast

A great view of town name Santa Isabel
while on a train ride from the big city
But getting some sleep, to my despair
The sound of engine and squeaky sound is deafening
Like an old locomotive engine in an antique museum
To my frustration, I covered my ears with
my pillow I brought from home
Still the engine sound is audible to ignore
And why people in their seats snore?
I ask myself, why can't I get some sleep?
I drank two cups of decaf before boarding
So caffeine is not in my system.
I'm feeling downcast for the time being.

Delusion

Delusion

The hamlet is shrouded with dense fog.
The lamps on posts lined on street sides,
all in English style like the ones in Hyde's park.
Oh, how I adore these English thing.
I could just imagine tonight Dr. Jekyll
would emerge from fog with his horse drawn cart.
Horse' footsteps I could clearly hear--
I shake my head and squint my eyes.
Must I be dreaming, illusioning or imagining
the English neighborhood of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Up the tree, a nocturnal black bird squawks
The lamps flickering like Saint Elmo's fire.
From a far distance, the horse-drawn cart and rider
emerging from fog,
The horse' footsteps getting closer and closer,
But horse-drawn cart and rider... nowhere in sight.

Death At More Than Two Hundred Thousand Feet

Death At More Than Two Hundred
Thousand Feet

Today we mourn for the loss
of the seven astronauts
who bravely faced the consequences in space
for the benefits of mankind.
They dedicated their lives for good cause
to the young generations,
who will soon follow their footsteps.
They fell from the sky and back to earth
where they come from.
When Columbia exploded in fire balls
more than two hundred thousand feet above the earth.
Like meteorites slashing through the sky
Bits and pieces fell everywhere.
The tragedy was felt by the entire nation,
and around the globe.
We pray for their families and relatives
that they maybe able to accept the reality
that their loved ones are now in their final rest
With the Lord Almighty.

Coping With My Losses

Coping With My Losses

My beloved pet cat has just died of old age.
My school mate succumbed to heart ailment.
My beloved brother died a year ago.
Years ago my Mom departed, too,
To another world or so.
I was overwhelmed with grief and sorrow.
But I won't let it deter my life.
I will continue to face life with faith and confidence.
I've learned to cope with my losses.
I will have self-determination,
To be able to make decision.
I will have a strong willed,
To be able to cope the inevitable.
The sublime Creator above
is watching over His flock,
to make sure we are on the right tract.

Concert in the Park

Concert in the Park

Waiting for the music to start
We unfolded our chairs in place
where musicians are tuning their instruments
In front of us are long robust necks of different sizes
Belonging to six-footer male species.
Moving to far side is a wiser move.
We are only five-footers to begin with.
I really don't mind setting there listening
to the notes of Chopin, Bach and Mozart
It is such a soothing effect on my obstructed nerves
Warned out from hard day's relentless work.

Commuter's Pledge

Commuter's Pledge

Driving back and forth to where I work
Is a hassle for me and those who co-work.
I pledge I would not drive in such a busy freeway
Probably, I'll quit driving, by the way.
From Santa Maria to LA 101 is such a dangerous freeway.
Lucky for me, if I ride with someone else or carpool my way,
I'll be free and more happy and enjoy the ride everyday.
I'll just chip in for gas or some money.
And I will be on my way
To the busy freeway in LA.

Come Fly With Me

Come Fly With Me

To my Best Friend
Free as a bird soaring up the sky
Free, but I can't fly like birds do
I would only dream of flying
'cause I don't have wings to flap
Come fly with me in my dreams
And explore the world in the realm of wonder
With the two of us, we'll be happier.
We'll search for our destiny together
At the end of the rainbow spill
Come fly with me in my dreams,
My only wish is to be with you forever
And let no one put us asunder.

Coco Palm Tree

Coco Palm Tree

I planted a coco palm tree
Under our porch near our alley.
The sunlight peers through the lattice screen
My coco palm tree still gets its vitamins
I nurtured it with so much love.
Like a mother caring for her child.
When it's about five feet tall and slim
I replanted it in a special place in our garden
Lilies and daisies I planted on the perimeter
It's beautiful to look at the colorful flowers
Now the palm tree is about seven feet tall
How I wish I could be that tall
So I could reach the fruits without climbing the fence
My coco palm trees start bearing fruits for nourishments
The young coco so sweet and refreshing
Like the nectar of the gods in spring.

Class Reunion

Class Reunion

In loving memory of my Aunt
Old friends and acquaintances from far away places;
Intermingling and seeing for the first time.
It's been two decades long, she surmise.
Hugging, exchanging how are yous, and ahhhs and ohhhs!
Dancing in the midst of waltz;
Converting it into rhumba and samba is the option.
Fats and slims are doing hulabalu.
Grabbing a partner was not in the atmosphere,
But exchanging partners made it lively and jolly
Everyone struts their stuffs till they crack
The night was so full of fun and excitements
Like youngsters enjoying luau beach parties.
It will be their greatest fun memories ever.

Autumn in Northern California

Autumn in Northern California

Beautiful wild flowers & poppies grow
in the vast fields and valleys
So captivating so alluring
One must see the beauty of autumn in Northern California
Autumn in Northern California so beautiful
It's breathtaking to see the birch and maple trees
Lined in main thoroughfare and everywhere
Leaves turning red, gold and yellow
Falling from trees.
One breezey morning
I witness Mother nature's beauty
I run around the trees and street
And let the colorful leaves fall on my hair
I was jubilant and thanking the Lord Almighty
Grass carpeted with colorful leaves
It makes me think of Vermont
What lovely scenes to feast your eyes on.
Come and see the autumn in northern california.
